Willi lived her formative years immersed in the art of artist parents and their artist colleagues and friends who were mainly interested in abstract art. On a funny note, her father was so influenced by the art of Wassily Kandinsky and spoke so much about him, she grew up as a little kid in the Netherlands thinking he was her uncle! Some uncle.
While raising her family and working as an RN, she spent many years working in photography. It was not until moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1997, that she abandoned photography and started sculpting with wood and steel.
For the last 11 years she has been working with mainly cast glass as the lovely colors and endless possibilities were, and still are so intriguing to her.

Attending the glass school in the Czech Republic was a life altering experience for her leading to the creation of abstract sculptures that appear simple at first glance, but on closer inspection, often reveal an alternate space within the glass.
